10 Tips to Beat Your Fruit Merge High Score
These tips apply to Fruit Merge and every Suika-style game — including our Watermelon, Brain, and Meat variants, since they all share the same physics and rules.
Placement
- Abandon the center. Walls and corners are your friends — center drops create two half-boards that both fill faster.
- Keep a size gradient. Biggest fruit in one corner, sizes descending toward the other wall. Sorted boards merge themselves.
- Match before you drop. Every fruit should land touching its twin or next to where its twin will soon appear. A drop with no plan is a future problem.
- Use gentle slopes. Fruits roll. A slightly angled pile feeds fruits toward their merge partners; a jagged pile wedges them apart.
Chains and scoring
- Set dominoes, not single merges. The big scores come from cascades — a cherry merge that births a strawberry that lands on its twin, and so on down the line.
- Save your bonus fruit. When the Next preview shows a fruit that completes a chain, spend your current fruit somewhere safe and cash in with the next one.
- Merge downhill. Aim so merge results pop toward the bigger fruits, not away — the hop after a merge can carry the new fruit right onto its next partner.
Survival
- Treat two-thirds height as the alarm. Don't wait for the flashing line. Once any column is two-thirds up, flatten before you build.
- Sacrifice merges to save the board. A merge that buries three small fruits is a loss dressed as a win. Sometimes the right play is the boring wall drop.
- Slow down when it's bad. There is no timer. The pile only grows when you drop — a stuck board deserves ten seconds of thought, not a panic drop.
